One sunny afternoon, Chief Gadao and several of his men decided to go fishing just off the shores of Inalahan, a southern village on the island of Guahan. They were not out in the water long before a giant angry shark was headed for their galaide'. Chief Gadao being a great chief, fearlessly grabbed his spear and jumped into the water. He thrusted his spear into the angry shark. The shark was no challenge for Chief Gadao and died instantly.

It wasn't long before the whole island was talking about Chief Gadao and his battle with the giant angry shark. Chiefs of the other villages heard the news and decided to hold a meeting to discuss if Chief Gadao should become Chief of the island. Some chiefs believed what Chief Gadao had done was great, but not good enough to become chief of all of Guahan. So they decided to test his strength by having him complete three tasks. His first task was to swim around the island of Guahan fifty times without resting. His second task was to smash a coconut tree with one mighty punch. Finally, he was to level a mountain with his bare hands.

Chief Gadao accepeted the challenge and began immediately. He swam around the island of Guahan fifty times in one day. He then smashed a coconut tree into a million pieces with one blow of his fist. Lastly, Chief Gadao leveled the mountain with a swoop of his arm.

The people began to cheer as they witnessed this great Chieftain and his strengths. Never had they seen such courage and great power. The people of Guahan now rest easily because they have Chief Gadao to protect them.
